Can you spot anxiety or depression in new fathers?
Here are some symptoms you can look out for if you love, or are a new dad:
Fear of being left alone with the baby.
Suicidal thoughts or thoughts of self-harm or harm to the baby.
Using alcohol or drugs as a form of escape or to cope.
Always feeling tired or exhausted.
Sleep problems unrelated to the baby’s sleep schedule.
Excessive increase or decrease to appetite.
Ongoing mood swings, irritability or moodiness.
Feelings of isolation and withdrawing from family and friends.
Loss of interest in previous activities.
Obsessive behaviours.
Constant worry - especially for the baby’s health or wellbeing.
Difficulty focusing on activities and/or lowered self-confidence and esteem.
Persistent headaches.
Aggression.
